The Bishop of Lira Diocese, Rt. Rev. Sanctus Lino Wanok has appealed to Christians to shun greed, materialism, anger, pride and any form of attachment to the world.
Bishop Wanok made the remark in his homily to mark the first Sunday of Lent at St. Francis Xavier Parish Dokolo in Dokolo District. He said that anger, materialism among other vices are forms of temptations the devil uses to lead us away from gaining eternal life. “Temptation comes from what you or we desire the most meaning, the devil will not tempt you from what you don't like or what you don't need, but he tempts us with what we need most” the Bishop said.
Later, in his meeting with the members of the Parish Pastoral Council, Bishop Sanctus Lino Wanok who was making his maiden pastoral visit to Dokolo since he took over as Bishop of Lira Diocese about a month ago, encouraged the leaders of the Pastoral Council to be rooted in the scripture, saying that the word of God is a strong weapon to defeat the devil. Meanwhile the Parish Priest, Fr. James Michael Ebong on behalf of the parishioners expressed his sincere joy and happiness for the zeal the new Shepherd has shown in his pastoral work.
